1. Prepare tools:
Prepare the required tools, such as screwdrivers, plastic pry bars, or special vent removal tools.
2. Power off:
Before disassembly, make sure the ventilation system is completely powered off to avoid the risk of electric shock.
3. Remove the trim:
For some models, such as the Tesla Model 3, you need to remove the dashboard end cap, airflow end cap, and main dashboard trim first.
4. Loosen the retaining screws:
For vents fixed to brackets, use appropriate tools (such as T20 Torx sockets, 4-inch extensions, ratchet/torque wrenches) to loosen the retaining screws.
5. Loosen the clips:
For vents fixed with clips, you need to loosen these clips. For example, the Tesla Model 3 vent trim is fixed with 16 clips.
6. Remove carefully:
Lift the top gasket slightly to insert the trim tool, and then loosen the clips. You must be careful to avoid damaging the vents or surrounding parts.
7. Disconnect the electrical connections:
During the disassembly process, if there are electrical connections behind the vents, be careful to disconnect these connections.
8. Clean the vents:
Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the inside and outside of the vents. For stubborn stains, you can use a special cleaner to gently wipe.
9. Reinstall:
After cleaning, reinstall the vents in the reverse order of disassembly. Make sure all screws and clips are in place and the electrical connections are properly connected.
10. Test:
After reinstalling, turn on the ventilation system to test whether it is working properly.
