1. Color change
New ePTFE membranes usually have a uniform and bright color. With aging, the color may become darker, yellower, or uneven.
2. Surface roughness
Unaged membranes have a relatively smooth surface. After aging, they may become rough, grainy, or uneven.
3. Cracks and cracks
Carefully observe the surface of the membrane for fine cracks or larger cracks. The appearance of cracks usually indicates more severe aging.
4. Deformation and distortion
If the membrane is significantly deformed, bent, or distorted and no longer maintains a flat shape, this may be a manifestation of changes in its physical properties caused by aging.
5. Reduced gloss
Fresh membranes tend to have a certain gloss. Aging will gradually reduce the gloss and become dull.
6. Stains and spots
Long-term use and aging may cause stains, spots, or dirt deposits on the membrane surface that are difficult to remove.
7. Changes in micropore structure
Use a magnifying glass or microscope to observe the micropores of the membrane. Aging may cause micropores to deform, become clogged, or become non-uniform in pore size.
